My new fabulous friend, Laura, contacted me a few weeks ago and said she had an idea. She wanted to throw a party for her girlfriends at her historic farm. She asked them to bring evening gowns, cocktail dresses, etc. and she wanted me to photograph them individually and as a group. The pictures are going to be presents for their husbands.
When I arrived earlier in the afternoon to get set up, I was amazed at everything she had done for the party. There were several seating areas set up near the barn, in a field, etc....all antique furniture, by the way. It was so beautiful! Inside she had set the dining room table with fresh fruit, finger foods and champagne. The ladies looked gorgeous - some brought elegant gowns, some brought simple dresses and awesome hats - it was a nice mix. In between 'wardrobe changes', everyone would eat a bit then wander around with me on the farm and take pictures. Let me tell you something - when you throw a cocktail dress on a 40-something woman, give her a little champagne and a night free of husbands and kids...an amazing transformation takes place! :0)
This is a picture I snapped while some were taking a little break. Laura had such a great response to her invitation that we had to spread this party over two weekends. Thirteen more women are attending the next 'party night'!
I'm serious when I say that ALL girlfriends need to do this one night. It was SO much fun - I had a great time myself and I was just an observer!
