The past couple of days have been all about koo-keys. Koo-keys, also pronounced 'cookies', are my child's new obsession. Those that know us well know that we are pretty strict on the amount of junk food that Sofi is allowed to eat and sugar is especially limited. So the fact that I've been baking holiday cookies for our neighbors (ok, and for us!) has been a special treat for Sofia. She knows where I'm hiding them now and has figured out how to open the pantry door. I need more locks.
On Sunday we bundled up to deliver cookies to some of our neighbors. Sofia gathered up the treat bags, put them in her Santa basket and we headed outside. She refused to do the "ho, ho, ho" we had practiced for so long and instead, just silently handed over the bags. I think she was a little bummed that she had to share the sugary treats she so rarely gets for herself. (We're still working on that whole sharing-thing.) Unfortunately, two of the neighbors weren't home...so we ate their cookies for them! :0)
Yesterday, we hosted 'cookie decorating' at our house. It was interesting. It's a tradition we're starting this year and I was pleasantly surprised that Sofia lasted as long as she did. Her friend, Evan, did more eating than decorating, and they both ended up playing with toys after a short while. Here is a picture of her koo-key creations. Looks yummy!

Tomorrow it's off to Nanny & Pop's house (Armando's parents) for Christmas Eve dinner. Then we'll come home and open one 'early gift' before Santa comes. We hope all of you have a great holiday, eat lots of good food, get some cool gifts, enjoy time with family, and remember the true meaning of Christmas...Jesus' birth!
Merry Christmas, y'all!!!
