family traditions

Now that I'm a mother, it's becoming very important to me that we start some traditions in our family. I'm sure at some point, Sofia will gripe about some of them...like my brothers and I do when Mom makes us read a scipture from the Bread of Life box before we have Thanksgiving dinner. (If you don't know what the Bread of Life scripture box is, you're really missing out. Mom's probably dates back to the 70's at least!) Every Christmas, she brings out the ugly birthstone angel ornaments and makes each one of us take our turn hanging it on the tree. While we normally roll our eyes and make a stupid face at the camera when it's 'our turn'...it wouldn't be Christmas without them. And I have to admit, it is pretty cool to watch our child hang her angel ornament along with us.

So, Kylen and Cameron - in case you're reading this - we hung your angels for you this year...highest on the tree, way above Daren's, just like you requested. :0) Brylie read the Christmas story before we opened gifts, but there was no special musical performance this year. (In years past, my Mom has forced one of us to play our instrument or sing for the family. It was so lame. I'm pretty sure my past piano performances are on home video somewhere and I distinctly remember glaring at the video camera as my brothers laughed in the background.) We missed you at Thanksgiving and Christmas this year, but we're so proud of your service to our country. We love you!

(Please keep my brother and nephew in your prayers as they serve in Iraq.)
