a little update

I am way behind on blogging and adding any pictures. I wish you family members who read this blog would join Facebook already! It's so much easier to add pics there and post little random updates. :0) So, since my last post...

I turned 34 on July 8th and Sofia turned 2 on July 11th. Fun times were had at both parties. My 'party' was a quick dinner out with my two favorite people at Fulin's where I indulged in some sushi (don't tell my OBGYN) and hot and sour soup. Yum! Sofi's party turned out great! It's so fun to watch her develop little friendships. She had fun with her friends and family and got lots of great stuff. She's also mastered potty training. I don't know what all the fuss is about - my little genius had the process figured out by Day 2 and there hasn't been an accident since! (Actually, I credit it to the teaching methods recommended by the Potty Camp lady that was on Oprah and LOTS of prayer because the Lord knew I wasn't able to handle the stress of a long, drawn out process.) Our awesome friends, Jason and Mary Philemon (and their boys, Chase and Brady) spent the 4th of July with us. Sofia was enamored with Chase, their 14 year old son. He was a good sport and played, drew pictures and watched Mickey Mouse with her. They live in North Carolina and we don't get to see them enough - had a great time.

Only two months to go in the pregnancy! Woo hoo!! We finally named our baby boy - Alexander Cruz SanMiguel. We'll call him Alex. Why 'Cruz'? Because it's Spanish and we like it. I hate when people ask stupid questions like, "why did you pick that name?". Why does anyone pick their baby's name?? (To clarify: I'm talking about the people who pretend to be interested in your choice, but really they just dislike your name selection.) Seriously...

I'm busy checking things off my pre-baby list, just like last time. I think it's my way of dealing with the whole nesting thing. I'm really proud of myself for getting so much accomplished - it keeps me calm. In fact, I am one gift away from being finished with Christmas shopping. Jealous, aren't you?!

Lastly, we're considering a dog. Can you believe that? Well, it's more like Sofia wants a dog and I'm slowly starting to cave. Armando is not completely convinced. Is that crazy or what? Maybe it's hormonal or maybe it's time to dive in and have the first 'family dog' that can grow up with our kids. We're both dog people, for sure, but we're just not positive if this is good timing. I don't know - stay tuned. Hope everyone is doing great and staying cool in this heat!! Happy Summer!

YEA!!! Welcome back to the blogging world. It's great to hear from you....good job on the update. Precise. To the point. I like it!

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!

WOW. Lots going on, but sounds like you are dealing with it all very well. Awesome about the potty training....one of my band mates has had a tough time with that. I've seen some pretty bad accidents. Not cool.

Well, Im glad you answered the question that I would have asked. {THANK GOODNESS I DIDNT!!!}. haha. I love to know how people come up with the name of their baby. It's a name for LIFE. Always intrigues me. So, yes. Im that annoying one.

Big Hugs to you all!!

You're so funny! I don't mind the "nice" inquiries about our name choice, but I'm totally OVER the people (including some family members) who have wrinkled their nose and acted like we're from Mars for choosing that name. I LOVE your new nephew's name. Love ya, girl!

Hey-
I am a friend from church and just happened on your blog from Jenny White's.

I LOVE CRUZ!
We just named our son (born in June) Cruz. (Cruz Williamson Jones) People had a hard time understanding with us too but when we told them our story, they quickly closed their mouth.
He is named after a boy in Nicaragua that my husband met 5 years ago. His family name is Cruz. My husband's trip changed his life (and ours) and we think and pray for that little boy all time. We loved the name and when we found out that we were expecting #5... we thought it fit perfectly with where our family is right now.
I wish you the best in the rest of your pregnancy and with the birth of your son.
